Book Description
With the depressing figures reported in the first half of this year by some major managed hosting companies, one would think companies large and small had suddenly shut the tap on Web-related spending. While this may reflect extreme caution regarding Internet-related activities at the lower end of the market, data from our 2001 Global Network Strategies (GNS) Survey, gathered from some of Europe’s largest companies in March, shows otherwise. According to this new GNS data, Europe’s multinationals and large domestic companies still view the Internet as a critical strategic investment and are planning to increase spending on Web-related services and infrastructure for the next two years. Other key findings of this survey related to the Internet, the Web, and managed network services are: Spending is expected to rise across the board in this segment of the market on items such as managed hosting, communications services, and collocation. In these areas, spending on connectivity is expected to grow fastest. Support, service, stability, and survivability are the key factors large companies look for in a managed hosting service provider, above price. The jury is still out on service-level agreements (SLAs), with only a few large companies very satisfied with their current SLA. (Note: All monetary figures in this Report are in U.S. dollars.)
