Review
This book will help reference librarians who are frequently asked for Web sites pertaining, e.g., to the financial aspects of divorce or accurate and up-to-date information about futures trading. It covers such diverse topics as American depository receipts and personal finance for gays and lesbians. A helpful introduction outlines the author's ideas on the different subject areas....a good buy for libraries of all sizes.Choice

Book Description
Turning to the Internet for personal finance information and guidance has become an obsession for an increasing number of Americans in recent years. This useful guide provides expert direction to the current sources available to answer researchers' questions about their personal financial needs. Covering over 1,400 carefully selected Web sites, part 1 includes resources for financing personal goals, such as education and retirement. Other sections of the book describe sites on investment choices and services, the management and protection of assets, personal banking, debt management, estate planning, insurance, and taxation. Entries include summaries highlighting the contents, features, and sponsors of each site. Sites are included in this convenient volume based on their ease of navigation, timeliness of information, scope, and level of free access. Also included are Web site sponsor and subject indexes.

Reader review(s):

Ages quickly, May 9, 2004
Since the advent of the web, many of us can now get financial information far more easily and quickly than in the past. So much so that one might need guidance to the best/most reliable websites. Hence Jiao has produced this book.

But this type of book ages quickly. The listing of over 1400 websites with financial data is indeed quite useful. But it can easily grow stale. This type of information is better maintained on a website.

By contrast, other portions of the book have slightly greater utility. The classification of the various investment subjects that a reader should be aware of is good. And likewise for the general description of desirable traits in a website. However, when Jiao then assesses the main websites in each subject, that too ages badly.
